The Arts Division is one of fourteen divisions in the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). Division membership is open to members of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) for an additional $10 fee per year. Memberships in divisions run concurrent with NAGC membership. Division Information
The Arts Division focuses on concerns of characteristics and needs of the artistically gifted and talented student and the role of the arts in the education of all gifted individuals.
The Arts Division believes that artistic expression is a basic and necessary function of healthy and productive individuals, and that the health and productivity of a society is reflective of the degree of artistic expression among its citizens. Therefore, it is the commitment of this Division to initiate, develop, and implement strategies and resources that will support interest and abilities in the Visual and Performing Arts.
Specifically, the Division will:
- Promote the recognition and acceptance of the Arts as an essential area of giftedness;
- Encourage research in the area of the artistically gifted and talented;
- Provide practical strategies and resources to foster artistic expression;
- Increase awareness of artistic expression, aesthetic perception, aesthetic valuing, and aesthetic appreciation.
