The Counseling and Guidance Division is one of fourteen divisions in NAGC dedicated to specific areas of interest to our members. Division membership is open to members of the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) for an additional $10 fee per year. Division memberships run concurrent with NAGC membership. (see membership application)The Counseling and Guidance Division recognizes the critical need for attention to the affective needs of the gifted individual. Therefore, the Division is dedicated to addressing the social and emotional growth of the gifted and talented child. In addition, emphasis is placed on planning and implementing a variety of systems and services for meeting these needs. The Division helps NAGC to select appropriate proposals for presentation at its annual convention and works to ensure that the social and emotional needs of children are considered along with their educational needs when determining the appropriate educational setting for them. The Division publishes a member newsletter twice a year.
